A Few of the Herbs Used in a Typical Natural Remedy for Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a disease that has become a part of millions of people’s lives. For many
of them, relief cannot come fast enough, and many chose to partake in a natural remedy for psoriasis in hope of
finding some measure of relief from the symptoms. Many of the natural remedies that are on the market today
are nothing more than a collection of herbs and nutrients that just about anyone can obtain by just visiting their
neighborhood health store.
Aloe as Part of A Natural Remedy For Psoriasis
Perhaps one of the most common ingredients used in a natural remedy for psoriasis is that of the Aloe Vera
plant. This plant is often found in gel form or even as the plant itself. It has been shown to decrease
outbreaks and help calm the redness that is a common symptom of psoriasis.
However, it does have a few side effects, and the serious ones such as diarrhea, kidney inflammation, and
potassium electrolyte abnormalities indicate that this ingredient in a natural remedy for psoriasis should only be
used topically and not ingested orally. In addition, Aloe Vera has been known to interact with certain
topical hydrocortisone creams, so be sure to tell your doctor that you’ve started to use
Cayenne
Surprisingly, one of the most common ingredients found in a natural remedy for psoriasis is cayenne
pepper. The active ingredient found in this herb is capsaicin, which when applied on the skin, has been shown
to reduce the severity of the attack, and reduce the redness and itching. However, in larger amounts, it has
been known to burn the skin, and cause a runny nose, and watery eyes.
In addition, if you regularly take aspirin, acetaminophen, or any anticoagulants, its best to try and avoid the
use of this pepper since it has been known to have an adverse interaction with them.
Tea Tree Oil
Another ingredient that is often found in a natural remedy for psoriasis is that of tea tree oil. This
essential oil can be easily found in many health food stores, and has been shown to offer some antiseptic
properties, and therefore could alleviate some of the symptoms of psoriasis. However, it should be noted that
there have been no scientific studies published that address this possible benefit of tea tree oil.
These are but a few of the many ingredients that are used in a typical natural remedy for psoriasis. If
you wish to make your own remedy using this information, please talk to a medical professional first. They
will be able to guide you in choosing the best ingredients for your very own natural remedy for psoriasis.
